Occupation: it’s what we do

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy Week will be celebrated in Australia from October 21-27, coinciding with World Occupational Therapy Day on October 27. This year the theme of national OT week is ‘Occupation: it’s what we do’. It’s all about celebrating and raising awareness about what OT’s do… who else is going to get you back on track and help you to minimise the effects of injury or illness?!?!

So how can you ‘do your bit’ for OT Week? Well, to start off, you could identify someone you know who might benefit from the help of an OT. Then, you could tell them that they can locate their nearest OT by contacting OT Australia on 1300 OT AUST, or via the website at www.otaus.com.au. Some OT services are able to be accessed through a GP and the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme.

You can also check out Occupational Therapy Australia’s website for more info on how you can get involved in OT week: http://www.otaus.com.au/promotions-media/ot-awareness-week.
