Vocational Education and Training (VET) offers a direct pathway to a number of careers in health, and can also provide a pathway to study at university. You may be eligible for subsidised VET courses.

States in Australia

Looking for Vocational Education and Training options close to home or in your state? Check with your VET Coordinator, Career Development Practitioner, Careers Advisor, or Guidance Counsellor.

Queensland

In Queensland, the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) has Health as one of the career areas in its Gateway to Industry Schools Program. One of the program aims is to strengthen VET opportunities for high school students interested in a career in health.

The Choose Your Own Health Career website is a useful resource for high school students, and is packed full of career pathways, personal stories and job profiles for in-demand jobs in Queensland.

The Queensland Skills Gateway can be used to find a VET training course, and the DESBT website provides information about which courses are subsidised in Queensland.
