Unfortunately I am no longer available to speak at careers expos and high school career events. If you are in Queensland I recommend you contact the Health Pathways Alliance. Their contact details are available on their Facebook page.
For those of you who are new to My Health Career, my name is Amanda Griffiths and I am the founder. I graduated from QUT’s School of Optometry in 2003 with First Class Honours.
I have over 12 years’ experience as an optometrist, have supervised optometry students in a clinical setting, and have practiced everywhere from predominantly indigenous communities in Cape York to Launceston, to Broome, Dubbo and Mackay, and some of Queensland’s most prestigious suburbs.
I have personally interviewed over 30 health practitioners to put together the 100+ videos featured on the website. I am constantly talking to health professionals and industry leaders about what’s happening in their area in health. In the past I also wrote many of the articles on My Health Career. I continue to organise guest posts from practitioners and organisations.
In 2014 alone I presented for organisations including the Career Development Association Australia, the Career Education Association Victoria, myfuture, the Partnership Brokers and the Queensland Association of Student Advisers. I have a series of ready-to-go presentations, and am able to tailor a presentation depending on what you are looking for.
In 2014 and 2015 I was a Master of Ceremonies (MC) at the finals day of the HealthFusion Team Challenge. The HFTC is a national competition which immerses university students in an interdisciplinary health care competition.
